FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Most massage and bodywork techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however, it is entirely up to you what you want to wear. You should undress to your level of comfort.
A typical full-body session will include work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck, and shoulders.
Yes. That's why it's imperative that, before you begin your session, the practitioner asks general health questions. It is very important that you inform the practitioner of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage or bodywork prior to any session. Depending on the condition, approval from your doctor may be required.
During your initial visit, you will complete confidential health and medical history as part of your assessment. It is important to advise if you have any medical conditions, are taking any medications (including herbal supplements), or have any specific areas where you would like more concentration. The massage therapist will then collaborate with you to develop a plan that ensures you receive the appropriate treatment. You will have privacy to disrobe and relax on the table before your massage begins. A sheet covers your body, exposing only the massaged areas. The massage therapist will apply a light cream, lotion, or oil to your skin to reduce the friction created by the massage. At the conclusion of your session, the massage therapist will leave the room allowing you time to relax and get dressed. Depending on the depth and intensity of the massage performed, it is possible to feel mild muscle aches for one or two days afterward. Drink plenty of water, especially after treatment.
No, massage can vary from general relaxation and wellness to therapeutic and condition specific.
You can pay by cash, checks, and credit cards as well as Zelle. There is $35.00 NSF for checks that do not clear at the bank. You are encouraged to utilize health savings if your plan accepts massage therapy.
Your appointments are very important to Monarch Healing Space. They are reserved especially for you. We understand that sometimes you will need to reschedule and/or make change your appointment. Respectfully, we request at least 24-hour notice for cancellations or rescheduling of appointments.
- No-shows: Anyone who misses or skips their appointment will be considered a "no-show." They will be charged for their “missed” appointment.
- Late Arrivals: If you arrive late, your session may be shortened to accommodate others whose appointments follow yours. Depending upon how late you arrive, we will then determine if there is enough time remaining to start a treatment. Regardless of the length of the treatment given, you will be responsible for paying for the “full” session. Out of respect and consideration for our business and other customers, please plan accordingly and be on time.
No, however, we encourage you to talk with your doctors and healthcare professionals about your use of massage therapy for transparency within the healthcare team.
Yes, in Ohio, massage therapy has been licensed as a limited branch of medicine. Massage Therapists are licensed by the State Medical Board of Ohio.
That will depend on your insurance company. Some insurance companies cover massage therapy. You will need to check, and we will need to be on the insurance panel in order for them to cover your services.

Massages We Offer
Relaxation Massages
Swedish Massage utilizes long, smooth strokes that combine elements of Eastern techniques with Western anatomy and physiology principles. This method helps to relax, reduce stress, and improve muscle tone.
Reiki is advantageous for managing chronic pain, reducing stress, and facilitating relaxation, thereby promoting overall healing.
Tuning Fork Sound Therapy, in conjunction with Reiki, offers numerous benefits. This modality assists in reducing stress, enhancing blood circulation, balancing the nervous system, and promoting profound relaxation.
Therapeutic Massages
Hydrotherapy massage involves using either hot or cold water to aid in healing and recovery. The benefits include pain relief, muscle relaxation, improved circulation, increased range of motion, and stress reduction.
Types of Hydrotherapy
- Contrast therapy alternates between hot and cold water to boost circulation during a massage.
- Hot Stone massage involves the use of heated stones by the therapist to facilitate muscle relaxation and tension alleviation. The heat from the stones penetrates deeply into the muscles, which aids in pain relief, enhances circulation, alleviates stress, and improves flexibility.
- Heating pads are used to apply heat therapy to specific muscle areas before a massage. This helps relax muscles, increase blood flow, and prepare the tissues for deeper manipulation, which can make the massage more effective and comfortable.
- Cold stone massage uses chilled marble stones to reduce inflammation, pain, and swelling.
- Ice packs are utilized in massage therapy primarily to alleviate inflammation and pain in specific areas by causing blood vessel constriction.
Myofascial Release applies gentle, deep pressure to stretch and soften fascia, restoring alignment, reducing pain, and improving tissue health. It benefits scar tissue and increases the range of motion.
Muscle Energy Technique is a valuable tool when addressing conditions that involve tense or shortened muscles.
Trigger Point Therapy addresses tender points within muscles and tendons that refer to or radiate pain. This technique aims to reduce pain and help muscles adopt pain-free habits.
Positional Release involves the passive positioning of a joint into a position of maximum comfort through gentle, passive movement.
